Human Resources 2021 Agenda: “Managing Talent”

The “Future of Human Resources in the New Reality Research”, which was held with the participation of approximately 1,300 global Human Resources professionals, was announced. According to the research conducted by KPMG, which provides consultancy, tax, and audit services in many countries around the world, the workforce is beginning to change shape, especially with the effect of the pandemic. Changing conditions and working styles in the business world highlight the talent needs of companies in this new era. In the research, it is emphasized that the next two years are critical for the workforce, and companies that can manage talent in this process will gain a great advantage.

This global process has affected companies in many ways and continues to do so. With this research, KPMG draws attention to how people management strategies in companies will change and how companies will restructure in line with the new order. The role of Human Resources is also redefined with these structuring strategies. In addition, Human Resources professionals are expected to develop existing talents in line with changing needs and to keep these talents in the global talent pool. The talent pools, which have grown even more with the effect of digitalization, increase the competition between companies. This indicates that both the importance and responsibility of Human Resources will increase. To summarize, we can say that it is very critical for companies to find the right talent, to shape it according to what the order brings, and to retain the talent!

Every company naturally wants to hire the best talent, which leads to increased competition. According to CEOs who participated in the Global CEO Survey, another research conducted by KPMG, the lack of proper management of talent is the biggest obstacle to long-term growth plans. The fact that the “talent risk”, which was in the 11th place in the survey conducted before the pandemic, is now in the first place reveals how important the issue is.

The increasing effect of digitalization is seen as the most important factor that determines the direction of the order soon. It is quite clear that digitization is no longer a choice but a necessity of time. This process, which plays an active role in many areas, will soon have an impact on Human Resources as well. We can say that the developed automation programs and artificial intelligence applications have begun to shape the future workforce.

Other important points in the research;

  • 69% of the participating professionals think that Human Resources needs to be restructured to keep up with this change process.
  • After the pandemic, 39% of employees are expected to continue working remotely and companies are expected to switch to a hybrid working model.
  • Ensuring the well-being of employees, especially in terms of employee productivity, is another important issue expected from Human Resources.
  • 72% of the participants; While saying that talent management and talent development are the two most important factors that should be supported in shaping the workforce, 33% argue that this situation can be implemented more easily than expected.
  • We said that the next two years are critical for companies. New talents emerging with the development of technology and digitalization indicate that 35% of existing employees need to renew their existing talents.
  • With the pandemic, companies are supporting their remote workers by making large investments, especially in terms of talent acquisition.
